Introduction
From self-employed consultants to international multinational corporations people have been making or saving money thanks to GNOME and more generally Free Software. In fact the commerciability of Free Software even prompted some to rename them Open Source Software around 1996-7, thinking it would be less confusing for the market. 28 years after the beginning of this movement we have seen a wealth of projects and solutions to answer various needs with GNOME taking a leading position in it. Whether telecommunication, medical, movie or services industry just to name a few, all major industry players are using GNOME and have found ways to get great value out of Free Software. While some have directly oriented their business around it, some use GNOME as a tool to achieve things that no other tool can provide with the same flexibility and wide support.
GNOME today is providing unparalleled opportunities for any company willing to open its eyes and learn from what others have been doing, be it to optimize a work flow or directly selling solutions or services based around its technology.
For its 4th edition GNOME.Asia Summit is bringing to Bangalore together with the GNOME Foundation, a wealth of experts whose daily jobs are to save or make money using GNOME and other Free Software. During this one day session you will have the chance to discuss and witness the benefits of GNOME technologies ranging from internal use and customization of the software to selling development services or building products around GNOME. Leaders in their respective fields professionals from Oracle, EDF (French utility company), Lanedo (outsourcing and customized software development) and Dexxon (French distribution company) will explain you what skills are required and the necessary steps involved to be successful in their domain.
From case studies, to implementation details, skill acquisition, community participation and extensive Q&A you will be able to fully cover each and every aspect of incorporating GNOME and Free Software in your business.
